Frequently Asked
Questions
—
Do you accept insurance?
At this time, our practice is a 100% private pay practice and we are considered out of network with all insurance providers. We can provide you with an itemized statement called a “superbill” if you plan to be reimbursed through your insurance plan’s out of network benefits. Note that a superbill does not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance provider. It is the responsibility of each family to contact their insurance provider to determine their insurance benefits before starting therapy.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept electronic forms of payment (debit card, credit card), and services can also be paid for using your flexible spending account (FSA) or healthcare savings account (HSA). Payment is due at the time of service and a card will be required to be kept on file to process these payments. Please contact us for rates.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
We would like clients to provide at least 24 hours notice before canceling an appointment to avoid being charged for a missed session. "No-shows" or late cancellations without proper notification usually result in a full session fee being charged. Of course we will work with you in cases of emergency with proper communication.
What types of disorders do you treat?
Although we specialize in the treatment of stuttering, we also serve clients with articulation, expressive, receptive and pragmatic language deficits.
How often will I receive therapy?
Together we will create a treatment plan that will address your concerns.
Will I receive therapy via teletherapy or in-person?
Although a majority of my clients enjoy the convenience of teletherapy, I also provide in-person therapy to those who live in the Austin, TX area (there is an additional travel fee for in-person sessions). I am licensed to service clients via teletherapy across Texas, Connecticut or Maine.
How long are the speech therapy sessions?
Sessions are 45 to 60 minutes in length. The last portion of a session may focus on improving carryover through parent education and providing a verbal update of ongoing progress.
What is your approach to therapy?
My philosophy is that of an ally in your communication journey. I believe in a person-centered, communication based approach in which I am a partner in your journey to become the most confident and comfortable communicator you can be.
What age client do you service?
I support people across the lifespan from early childhood through adult.
How do I get started with therapy?
Please fill out our Intake/Case History form. We will call or email you to schedule a free initial 15-minute phone consultation to discuss you / your child's unique communication needs. During this call, the clinician will determine whether or not you/your child would benefit from therapeutic services and whether our practice is the right fit for you. There is no commitment with a complimentary consult.
If you would like to begin service, we will schedule a 60-minute evaluation that includes an interview and goal planning. The clinician will email you an evaluation report and treatment plan within 2 weeks. The clinician will discuss the treatment plan with you during the initial therapy visit.
Please feel free to contact me for any other questions regarding services offered, billing or scheduling.
